Maybe your HD is still functionable. Try to plug it on another computer.

Thank goodness CVS Artist and Chuchoryu releases frequently, I bet they will never suffer this kind of loss.

Even if you do back up your work, chances are it will be very old work, the kind that needs a few months to catch up on from where you left off. Backing up data only really works for finished work or if you rewrite your data daily which can be time consuming if you have a slow PC, poor internet or bad connection, and if you just plain forget or your not in the mood for it Razz

( Not to mention losing your flash drive   )

There is also cloud storage on the net like filehosting but I think it's best to just let everyone have a copy with a public download, even when a link goes off someone has your character in their collection somewhere for recovering the character. This is also what's great about warehouses, the day scruffydragon (no offense) goes offline that database will go along with it and their policy will blow up in their face if their members haven't retired yet by that time to put the link up again somewhere else.

Thank goodness for file sharing places like that.

Very few people have copies of the old mugen characters and many more members are disappearing from mugen and being replaced by new members who are just starting to collect stuff, and they'll probably never get the old stuff.

This is a very real scenario, when megaupload went out of service a lot of mugen downloads went dead and some creators still haven't changed those links on their blogs. I had to ask around all over the place and even searched warehouses until I was able to find one working link.

I've done it all myself before, so that's my advice, just post something somewhere, just in case Crying or Very sad I advise release though, nothing better than that!

You need to take your hardrive to a computer and hardware shop , they usually recover much of the things we have in the hardrives

That's why you should never ever store anything local on the computer. The best way to do it is getting a NAS. Even better is to have a backup on the NAS. Try this:
(the following requires that you have another pc to try this on)
1. Purchase a USB SATA/IDE adapter kit.
2. Take out your HDD that doesn't work and connect it to the USB SATA/IDE adapter kit.
3. Plug in the USB cable and power from the USB SATA/IDE adapter kit.
4. If you are lucky your HDD will show up on as a new drive on the other computer and you can transfer your files.

Good luck. Smile

I know how you feel, it really sucks to lose everything. When it happened to me last time, I decided to not let it happen to me again, so I purchased about 4 32gb USB Devices and backed up all my stuff onto them, and I update them every 2 weeks with stuff i've saved.

Again I know how it must be, it's really terrible, just try to prepare yourself for next time, there is always a next time unfortunately so you have to beat the computer at it's own game.

I hope you rebuild everything and back it up, as rebuilding usually is better (in the worst circumstance).
